The regulations on meteorological disaster prevention in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was issued. It was learned from the press conference held by the Standing Committee of the people's Congress of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region that the regulations on meteorological disaster prevention in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was approved at the 27th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Tenth People's Congress of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on April 3, and will be officially implemented from July 1, 2007. Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region belongs to temperate continental monsoon climate and is a region with frequent meteorological disasters. Disasters caused by drought, strong wind (sandstorm), cold wave, rainstorm (snow), hail, dry hot wind and so on account for more than 80% of all kinds of natural disasters in Inner Mongolia. In 2005, the direct economic losses caused by various meteorological disasters in Inner Mongolia were about 2.46 billion yuan, and the affected population reached 4.482 million; In 2006, the direct economic losses caused by various meteorological disasters in Inner Mongolia were about 13.62 billion yuan, and the affected population reached 10.363 million. Meteorological disasters each year not only cause huge direct economic losses, but also operators should learn to find problems and eliminate them. Governments at all levels have also invested a lot of human, material and financial resources in disaster resistance and relief
